They are prosthetics that are used to replace missing teeth. Dental implants are permanently placed in the patient’s jawbone through oral surgery. They are used for permanently filling missing teeth and are a common choice, mainly because they look and function just like natural teeth. They are used as a replacement for the missing tooth’s roots and become the base for fake tailored-made teeth. Dental implants require multiple steps and are completed within a few months but the result is totally worth the whole process. Our dentists in Larnaca will examine you and evaluate your oral health and take x-rays to make sure that you are a suitable candidate for dental implants. They are a permanent solution and they can last for many years. Even though the whole procedure can seem scary, our experts at Dentists Larnaca are here to ensure you that the healing process is easy and the result will be worth every part of the process.
There are different steps to dental implants and the whole process takes a few months to be completed. Firstly, our team will take x-rays of the patient’s mouth and create dental models. Then we remove any damaged teeth and graft (if needed) to the jawbone so it can hold the implant. Once the area is healed you will need to come in for the dental implant placement, during which we will make an incision in the patient’s gums to expose the jawbone and drill a hole into it to place the implant. Then, there is a healing period in order to let the jawbone blend with the implant. Once the area is healed we make a small incision in the gums to add the abutment on top of the dental implant and then we suture the gum around it and leave it to heal. We then take an impression of the patient’s mouth to create tailored dental crown, bridge or denture at the lab. When the bone is ready we place it on top of the abutment completing the procedure.
Wisdom Teeth Extraction
A common dental surgery procedure in which one or more of the four wisdom teeth are removed. Wisdom teeth extraction can be performed under local or general anesthesia depending on the patient’s preferences, the difficulty of the extraction and the number of the teeth to be extracted.
Each case is different depending on the severity of the problem and the number of wisdom teeth to the removed. After the anesthesia, our dentist will make an incision in the gums to access the wisdom tooth and carefully loosen it in order to remove it. Then, the dentist will stitch the wound and place gauze to control the bleeding. Recovery time can vary depending on each patient but it normally takes a few days. At Dentists Larnaca we give our patients thorough instructions to have a speedy and easy recovery.
