Procedure
There are different steps to dental implants and the whole process takes a few months to be completed. Firstly, our team will take x-rays of the patient’s mouth and create dental models. Then we remove any damaged teeth and graft (if needed) to the jawbone so it can hold the implant. Once the area is healed you will need to come in for the dental implant placement, during which we will make an incision in the patient’s gums to expose the jawbone and drill a hole into it to place the implant. Then, there is a healing period in order to let the jawbone blend with the implant. Once the area is healed we make a small incision in the gums to add the abutment on top of the dental implant and then we suture the gum around it and leave it to heal. We then take an impression of the patient’s mouth to create tailored dental crown, bridge or denture at the lab. When the bone is ready we place it on top of the abutment completing the procedure.
